Advisory Board Member – Dianna L. Luce, Fifth Judicial District Attorney
Born in Lubbock, Texas to Fletcher and Sarah Jo Lewis. Dianna received her Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico School of Law and became licensed to practice law in New Mexico in 1996. Richard and Dianna have been married for 36 years and have 2 adult sons, Cody and Curtis and 3 grandchildren.
Dianna was elected District Attorney in November 2016 and began her first full-term on January 1, 2017 after being appointed by Governor Susana Martinez on June 1, 2015. Her career as prosecutor of a combined 13 years has included 17 first degree murder trials including the first Life Without Parole trial and conviction in New Mexico since the repeal of the Death Penalty. Her legal career has included serving 4 years as Magistrate Judge in Lovington, New Mexico and 5 years of private practice.
She is the President of the New Mexico District Attorney’s Association and served previously as the Treasurer. Dianna serves as a Director on the Board of the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) and is a member of the Women’s Prosecutor Committee of NDAA.. In the past, she has served in several organizations regarding the legal profession including member and President of the Lea County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division Board, and Chair of the Family Law Section of the State Bar.
Dianna has been a member of several community boards in the past serving as: Hobbs Rotary – President, Lea County Women’s Network – President, Teen Court of Lea County – President, and CASA of Lea County –President.
Her interests include cooking, Nascar and Fitness training.
