Kathi Bearden

Vice Chairman – Kathi Bearden is a founding member of the Community Drug Coalition of Lea County. She has served as the Chairman of the Board and now serves as Past Chairman.
Kathi is retired as Publisher of the Hobbs News-Sun. She and her husband have business interests in Lea County.
Kathi has two sons and five grandchildren.
She has served as the Chairman of the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government, the Hobbs Chamber of Commerce, the New Mexico Press Association, the Economic Development Corporation of Lea County and Palmer Drug Abuse Program.
She has also served as Chairman of the NM Commission on Higher Education, the NM Small Business Regulatory Advisory Committee and the NM Community Development Block Grant committee. She served as the Vice Chairman of the NM Environmental Improvement Board.
Kathi is a graduate of Hobbs High School and New Mexico Junior College. She is graduate of Leadership New Mexico and served on its board. She is a graduate of the American Press Institute and was Hobbs Citizen of the Year.
She has served on the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Board, United Way of Lea County and has served as fund drive chairman for United Way.
